Aftercare is an essential part of the microblading process, as it helps to ensure that your eyebrows achieve beautiful and long-lasting results.

Here are some tips for aftercare eyebrow microblading:

  • Be patient and allow your eyebrows to heal naturally as it can take several weeks for your eyebrows to fully heal and for the pigment to settle into the skin.
  • It’s normal for the eyebrows to appear darker or more intense immediately after the procedure, but the colour will gradually fade over time. This is why it’s important to schedule a touch-up appointment with your microblading technician to ensure that your eyebrows remain looking their best.

WHAT YOU CAN DO DURING THE HEALING

  • Twice a day ointment – To promote healing and prevent scabbing, apply a light layer of the provided gel or Paw Paw ointment twice a day, without rubbing. This will help to keep your eyebrows moisturized and prevent scabbing. You can discontinue use when the skin is no longer flaking, which typically takes about 7 to 10 days.
  • Face washing – When washing your face, be gentle and avoid rubbing the eyebrow area.
  • Showering – While showering, steer clear of hot water and soap on the microbladed eyebrow area.
  • If you experience any unusual symptoms, such as excessive swelling, redness, or pain, contact your microblading artist or a medical professional for advice.

WHAT YOU SHOULD AVOID DURING THE HEALING

  • Too much ointment – Avoid applying too much ointment, as excessive hydration can cause the eyebrow micoblading to fade or peel off too quickly.
  • Scratching – Avoid touching or scratching your eyebrows during this time, as this can interfere with the healing process and may result in an uneven or patchy appearance.
  • Let the skin flake off naturally in a few days.
  • Avoid getting your eyebrows wet for at least a week after the procedure. This includes swimming, sweating, and washing your face. Try to keep your eyebrows as dry as possible during this time.
  • Sun exposure – Protect your microbladed eyebrows from sun exposure for at least 3 weeks after the procedure and avoid sunscreen. Instead, wear a hat to shield your eyebrows.
  • Sauna or Steam – Avoid activities that involve steam, such as saunas, facials, and hot yoga, steam rooms, sunbathing or sun beds until the flaking has subsided.
Refrain from swimming in salt water or chlorinated pools for 30 days.
  • Eyebrow tint – Wait at least 3 weeks before tinting your eyebrows.
  • Avoid getting your eyebrows waxed or threaded for at least two weeks after the procedure. This can cause the pigment to come off and may result in an uneven or patchy appearance.
  • Makeup – Avoid using makeup on your eyebrows for at least a week after the procedure to prevent makeup particles from getting stuck in the dry skin. This includes eyebrow pencils, powders, and gels.
  • Avoid using any harsh or abrasive skincare products on your face during the healing process. This includes facial scrubs, toners, and astringents.
  • Listed active ingredients – Refrain from using products that contain certain active ingredients, such as retinoids (vitamin A), alpha beta hydroxy acids (e.g., glycolic acid, lactic acid, salicylic acid), benzoyl peroxide, adapalene (Differin), hydroquinone, azelaic acid, and kojic acid.

WHAT YOU SHOULD EXPECT OVER THE NEXT 4 WEEKS:

  • Days 1-3: Darker, thicker eyebrows due to excess ink and fluid. They will soften up.
  • Week 1: Dry, flaky skin and uneven color are part of the healing process.
  • After first week: Eyebrows will fade and look more natural.
  • Weeks 2-3: Eyebrows will fade 20-30%. Losing color is normal. Ink stabilizes in week 4.
  • Week 4: Skin is healed. Follow-up appointment is necessary for perfect finish.

WHAT YOU SHOULD AVOID AFTER THE HEALING PROCESS

  • Sun exposure – After it has healed (30 days), protect your microbladed eyebrows from sun exposure by wearing sunscreen to avoid fading from the sun.
  • Laser, peeling, exfoliating – Before undergoing these treatments, ask your beautician to protect the tattooed area.
  • Moisturizing or using special skin treatment cream. Avoid using products containing the following ingredients on the tattooed area, as they may cause it to fade quickly: Retinoids (Vitamin A), e.g., Tretinoin, Retinol, Alpha Beta Hydroxy acids.g. glycolic acid, lactic acid, salicylic acid, Benzoyl peroxide, Adapalene (Differin) Hydroquinone, azelaic acid, kojic acid.

By following these tips and instructions for aftercare eyebrow microblading, you can help to ensure that your eyebrows heal properly and look their best. If you have any concerns or questions during the healing process, don’t hesitate to contact your microblading artist for advice.
